About Us
The story of Bangiya Aikya Sammilani (BAS) is one of community, devotion, and legacy.
It all began in Mayur Vihar Phase 3, New Delhi, where residents first moved into their homes in 1990. By 1991, a vision emerged—to bring together all Bengalis in the neighborhood and celebrate our rich cultural heritage. The idea gained momentum in 1992, when preparations began to organize a Durga Puja. Though the initial larger plan faced hurdles, one pocket—A1—decided to move forward with determination.
In September 1992, seven passionate members came together, with Mr. Dhiman Chakraborty proposing the name that still inspires us today: Bangiya Aikya Sammilani. Soon, nine founding members, including Late Pijush Chatterjee (President) and Pijush Chatterjee (Secretary), dedicated themselves to the cause. With just ₹27,000 collected through small household donations—ranging from 25 paise to ₹10—they organized a grand Kali Puja, their first major celebration. The response was overwhelming, and the foundation of BAS was firmly laid.
Encouraged by the success, BAS registered as an official society. From 1993 onwards, we began celebrating Durga Puja under the banner of Mayur Vihar Puja Samiti (controlled by BAS). With each passing year, more members joined hands, and together we realized a cherished dream: the construction of a Kali Mandir, which now stands as a spiritual and cultural cornerstone for the community.
Our journey has always been about more than festivals—it is about unity, culture, and devotion. Every puja, every gathering, has strengthened the emotional bond among our members. What started with nine determined individuals has now grown into a thriving community, where traditions live on and new memories are created every year.
Today, as we pass the torch to the next generation, we entrust them with our greatest legacy: to carry forward the spirit of togetherness, devotion, and cultural pride that defines Bangiya Aikya Sammilani.
বঙ্গীয় ঐক্য সম্মিলনী (BAS)-এর গল্প একতা, নিষ্ঠা ও উত্তরাধিকারের এক অনন্য কাহিনী।
সবকিছু শুরু হয়েছিল ময়ূর বিহার ফেজ ৩, নয়াদিল্লিতে, যখন ১৯৯০ সালে বাসিন্দারা প্রথম তাঁদের নতুন বাড়িতে বসবাস শুরু করেন। ১৯৯১ সাল নাগাদ একটি স্বপ্নের সূচনা হয়—এই পাড়ার সকল বাঙালিদের একত্র করে আমাদের সমৃদ্ধ সাংস্কৃতিক ঐতিহ্যকে উদযাপন করার। এই ভাবনা বাস্তব রূপ নিতে শুরু করে ১৯৯২ সালে, যখন দুর্গাপূজার আয়োজনের প্রস্তুতি শুরু হয়। যদিও প্রথম দিকের বড়সড় পরিকল্পনাটি কিছু সমস্যার সম্মুখীন হয়, A1 পকেটের কয়েকজন দৃঢ়সংকল্পে পথচলা শুরু করেন।
১৯৯২ সালের সেপ্টেম্বরে সাতজন উৎসাহী সদস্য একত্র হন, এবং সেই সময়েই শ্রী ধীমান চক্রবর্তী একটি নাম প্রস্তাব করেন—বঙ্গীয় ঐক্য সম্মিলনী—যা আজও আমাদের অনুপ্রাণিত করে। শীঘ্রই নয়জন প্রতিষ্ঠাতা সদস্য—যাঁদের মধ্যে ছিলেন প্রয়াত পীযূষ চট্টোপাধ্যায় (সভাপতি) ও পীযূষ চট্টোপাধ্যায় (সম্পাদক)—এই মহৎ কাজে নিজেদের সমর্পণ করেন। মাত্র ₹২৭,০০০, যা বাসিন্দাদের ২৫ পয়সা থেকে ₹১০ অবধি ছোট ছোট দানে সংগ্রহ করা হয়েছিল, সেই অর্থেই আয়োজিত হয় প্রথম বড় উৎসব—একটি জাঁকজমকপূর্ণ কালীপূজা। এই উদ্যোগে অভাবনীয় সাড়া মেলে, এবং সেখান থেকেই BAS-এর ভিত্তি দৃঢ়ভাবে স্থাপন হয়।
এই সাফল্যে অনুপ্রাণিত হয়ে BAS একটি নিবন্ধিত সমিতি হিসেবে আত্মপ্রকাশ করে। ১৯৯৩ সাল থেকে আমরা ময়ূর বিহার পূজা সমিতি (যা BAS দ্বারা পরিচালিত) ব্যানারে দুর্গাপূজা উদযাপন শুরু করি। বছর যত এগিয়েছে, ততই নতুন সদস্যরা আমাদের সঙ্গে যুক্ত হয়েছেন, এবং সম্মিলিত প্রচেষ্টায় একটি স্বপ্ন বাস্তবে রূপ পায়—একটি কালী মন্দির নির্মাণ, যা আজ আমাদের সংস্কৃতি ও আধ্যাত্মিকতার মূল স্তম্ভ হয়ে দাঁড়িয়েছে।
আমাদের যাত্রা কেবল উৎসব উদযাপনের মধ্যে সীমাবদ্ধ নয়—এটি একতা, সংস্কৃতি এবং ভক্তির প্রতিচ্ছবি। প্রতিটি পূজা, প্রতিটি অনুষ্ঠান আমাদের সদস্যদের মধ্যে আবেগের বন্ধনকে আরও গভীর করেছে। যে সংগঠন শুরু হয়েছিল নয়জন নিবেদিতপ্রাণ মানুষের হাত ধরে, তা আজ এক সমৃদ্ধ, সক্রিয় সম্প্রদায়ে পরিণত হয়েছে, যেখানে ঐতিহ্য জীবন্ত এবং প্রতি বছর নতুন স্মৃতি সৃষ্টি হচ্ছে।
আজ, আমরা যখন পরবর্তী প্রজন্মের হাতে এই ধ্বজ তুলে দিচ্ছি, তখন তাঁদের কাছে আমাদের সবচেয়ে বড় উত্তরাধিকার অর্পণ করছি: একতার, নিষ্ঠার ও সাংস্কৃতিক গর্বের সেই চেতনা—যা বঙ্গীয় ঐক্য সম্মিলনীর পরিচয় বহন করে।
